Our Values

When we opened our doors to our very first customers we aimed to provide great food that was locally produced along with a top-quality service. Today, community and sustainability are still at the heart of everything we do.

We work hard to source the best ingredients and each product range goes through a rigorous taste-testing process. As a team, we carry out ingredient check and taste tests on all the ranges before we decide whether it makes it to our shelves.

As part of a well-established foodie hub here on the Welbeck estate, we’re proud to say that a large amount of our top selling produce is made right here.

We work with Welbeck’s food and drink producers that are keeping skills and flavours alive as well as the people who farm the 15,000-acre estate that surrounds us. If there’s a particular food or ingredient that isn’t produced right on our doorstep though then we’ll look further afield until we find one that we’re proud to sell.

Taste is key to us, obviously, but working with small and specialist food producers that share our ethos is equally as important. We will go to the nth degree to find great-tasting food that has been grown or produced in an ethical and sustainable way. By the same token, we continually evaluate our own environmental impact across our activities.

We know you care about the environment and so do we and that’s why we stock food that has not been intensively farmed and provide fresh food that hasn’t come from all corners of the earth. It’s good for the planet and our health – and tastes much better.

We aim to make shopping a whole different experience too. You’ll not be overwhelmed here with miles of aisles and freezer sections, instead you get the chance to chat across the counter with grocers, butchers and bakers. They know exactly where the food is from and are happy to offer advice and tips and pass the time of day.
